Books for Kids will offer free books for kidsClearwater Academy International and The Community Learning Center have teamed up to sponsor a monthly event called Books for KidsFree books, that are new or gently used, are donated by the community and are given to any child that comes to the event.

"Both Clearwater Academy, a non-profit private school and the Community Learning Center, a non-profit tutoring center, truly understand the importance of reading,” says Holly Haggerty, the Executive Director of the Community Learning Center. “For a child who knows how to read and read well, there is nothing they can’t learn, and the best way to nurture a child’s love for reading is for a child to have books of his very own."

The Books for Kids Giveaway provides an opportunity for everyone in the community to support and promote reading.  According to Mrs. Haggerty, "Everyone is invited to attend.  You can bring your own books to donate or just come by to pick out 5 of your own. There will also be fun activities for the kids and refreshments, all at no charge"

The next Books for Kids event will take pace on January 16th from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in Clearwater Academy’s gymnasium. Clearwater Academy is located at 801 Drew St. in Clearwater. At 1:00 p.m. there will be a special book reading from children’s book author Tina Turbin, a finalist in the National Best Books Awards of 2009. There will be a special free seminar for parents on Study Technology, and how it can help their children and also themselves in life at 12:30, just before the book reading.  The seminar will be presented in English and Spanish.

Study Technology, developed by L. Ron Hubbard, is a method that teaches a student how to learn and how to handle anything that stops them from learning.  L. Ron Hubbard not only developed this effective study method but also was one of the most beloved and read authors of the twentieth century; so it fits perfectly that these two groups have come together to help the children of the Clearwater community become avid readers.

Both Clearwater Community Learning Center and Clearwater Academy International are licensed by Applied Scholastics™ International.
