Centered around 10 drug-education booklets, the Foundation for a Drug Free World’s “Say No to Drugs, Say yes to Life” program is the largest grass roots community-based program in the world today. Its purpose is to empower children and adults with the truth so that they can make an informed decision themselves not to take drugs.
The Drug-Free Marshals, are children who have pledged to lead a drug-free life and to inform and educate others about the dangers of these drugs. Two of the Marshals, Sally Gatza and 11 year old Avery Dale swore in two of the Blue Jays players – Brian Pettway, number 29 and Al Quintana, number 3 as Drug-Free Marshals.
Over 200 “Truth About Drugs” booklets were distributed to fans and all children were invited to sign the pledge.
This was one of hundreds of simultaneous events held all over the globe in 100 cities to put the booklets into the hands of hundreds of thousand of people.
The long running “Say No to Drugs, Say Yes to Life” program has been carried out in 60 countries over the past 20 years, including 51,247,8433 handouts (with 21 million Truth About Drugs booklets), 280,000 billboards and posters, 98,000 public events and 3.4 million individuals pledging to be drug-free.
