Tranquility is a pressurized module that will provide room for many of the station’s support systems. Attached to the node is a unique work station with six sides. There are windows on all sides, and on the top.
Tranquility is the last element of a barter agreement for station
hardware. Tranquility will be received in exchange for NASA’s delivery
of ESA’s Columbus laboratory. Tranquility was built by Thales Alenia
Space in Turin, Italy.
Tranquility will be delivered to the space station during space shuttle Endeavour’s STS-130 mission. February 4, 2010 is the targeted launch date.
There will be a commemorative ceremony at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida at 2:00 pm.
