“Unfortunately support for those who are currently deployed is diminishing here in the United States”, as was brought to the attention of Benefit Coordinator Lauren Golino during an email discussion with a deployed soldier. “As I explained to the soldier that we were trying to bring musicians to perform at our event, he replied, ‘no one is going to fly across the country for us…people hate us.’ He went on to say that a woman spat on him in the Austin airport.”

“People do still care”, Lauren proudly reported, “Nashville recording artists Jared Ashley and Logan Mize have agreed to donate their time and perform a charity concert.”

Fittingly, the Remember Our Heroes Benefit Concert & Field Day is scheduled the Saturday before September 11th, commencing with a moment of silence to honor those who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks 11 years ago.

The Field Day consisting of a variety of fun-packed activities: a mechanical bull, dunk tank, military obstacle course, tug-of-war between fraternities and sororities, foam party, etc. will be followed by the benefit concert.

As was urged by Laruen Golino, “September 11th 2001 was one of the saddest days in our countries history. The students at the University of South Florida are planning this event to make sure that they are never forgotten, and so that the brave men and women overseas are acknowledged as well. It is our hope that the entire community can come together and show their support for this great cause.”
