Miles for HopeMiles for Hope, the Tampa Bay Lightning and Tampa Bay Harvest have joined together for the first Miles for Hope Rummage Sale and Can Food Drive at 29245 US Hwy 19 N, Clearwater, located just south of Curlew Road. The event will raise awareness and funding for brain cancer

Starting Friday, November 20, 2009 Miles for Hope will unload 4 PODS full of items donated and collected over the past month. The sale will run from 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM Friday - Sunday. In addition, we will be conducting a non-perishable food drive which will benefit Tampa Bay Harvest which provides food to local shelters to feed the homeless of Tampa Bay. “We ask that everyone who comes to the rummage sale, bring at least one non-perishable item to help out the homeless in the area”, said Barb Gibbs, President of Miles for Hope.

On Saturday, November 21, 2009 in order to usher in the spirit of goodwill, the Tampa Bay Lightning Mobile Marketing Unit, Thunderbug, and the Bolt Brigade will be at the rummage sale and assist in the collection of all charitable items, as well as provide free Lightning giveaways, raffle tickets for a chance to win Lightning autographed memorabilia, and of course, plenty of fun.

In addition, the Tampa Bay Lightning will have discounted “Ticket to a Cure for Brain Cancer” tickets available for next Friday’s game, but only when they call Kelvin at 813-301-6832 to purchase their tickets. A portion of all tickets sold by November 25th will benefit Miles for Hope and their mission. The Lightning will have a special gift for those that purchase their “Ticket to a Cure” tickets by November 25th. Also, the first 2,500 entering the game will receive a special gift from Miles For Hope on Friday, November 27th.

“Miles For Hope is pleased to have partnered with the Tampa Bay Lightning to raise awareness of brain cancer, and to raise critically needed funding for this deadly disease,” said Gibbs. “We are also proud to be able to assist Tampa Bay Harvest by conducting this food drive.” For additional information on Miles For Hope or for these upcoming events, please call 727-647-6548.
