Clearwater, FL (February 24, 2009) - A double celebration marks two years that Artists in Action International (AIAI) has been bringing art and culture to the Tampa Bay area.  Saturday, March 21st, starting at 7:00pm they celebrate not only their second anniversary, but also the grand opening of the Mission: Beautification Gallery which recently moved into the old AmSouth building at 400 Cleveland Street in downtown Clearwater.

Artists in Action, International exists to inspire artists of all genres to reach greater heights and make a difference in their communities. Founded here in Clearwater, Florida by visual artist Jack Potter, it now has members across the world. The group has received proclamations from the City of Clearwater establishing Clearwater Poetry Day and Clearwater Human Rights Week.  They have also been acknowledged for their participation in the city’s Jazz & Art Walk, BeatleMania and Miracle on Cleveland Street.

In the addition to their new 9,000 square foot fine art Gallery in downtown Clearwater, they also promote the arts through monthly events such as Arts Alive Open-Mic and Poetry by Candlelight.

Highlights of the celebration will include Clearwater’s Vice Mayor, George Cretekos, William Sturtevant, chairman of the Clearwater Downtown Partnership as well as renowned actor/producer, John Parsonson presiding as Master of Ceremonies for the event.  In addition to the awards ceremony there will be plenty of entertainment, food, refreshments and door prizes.  Free parking in the rear for all attendees.

President Jack Potter plans to expand AIAI membership ten-fold in the next year as well as starting up five new chapters around the world. "We want to create nothing less than a new Renaissance and awaken people to the value of the artist in uplifting the culture," he says.  "It was done by Leonardo Da Vinci, Michelangelo, Shakespeare and Marlowe.  It was done by Ibsen, Shaw and The Impressionists.  It can be done by artists across the world uniting in the common cause to make a better civilization."
