The American and Canadian national anthems were sung by 12 year-old Sally Gatza from Delphi Academy in Clearwater. There were contests and prizes, including an essay contest in which children were asked to show, in a creative way, how they would teach someone not to do drugs. The winners, Lindsay Patrick and Alexis Young, both from Washburn Academy, were presented with autographed Aaron Hill bobbleheads.
This is the second year the Drug Free World fundraiser has been held and the proceeds go to projects such as anti-drug education for youth in detention centers. For more information go to www.drugfreeworld.org .
