These competent ladies from the Clearwater Community Volunteers meet every week and work all year round to create Downtown Clearwater’s Winter Wonderland, the Easter Egg Hunt in Coachman Park, Fashions with Flair and Spa Day.
This past Christmas, CCV decided it was time to do something for our troops. They collected money at Winter Wonderland for gifts to be sent to an Army platoon that they had adopted in Iraq. Every two months since then, CCV has put together 7–10 boxes of home-baked goodies, Girl Scout Cookies, toiletries, batteries, magazines, and many more items the troops have requested – all to make their stint in the Middle East more
comfortable. It’s the goal of CCV to let these 28 men in Iraq know that they have support from home during their time overseas. “Our group is open to anyone willing to work hard, have a lot of fun and experience the rewards of watching kids run after thousands of Easter Eggs, sit on Santa’s lap for the first time ever or look with awe at the incredible sparkling lights of Winter Wonderland. We meet every Tuesday evening, usually at my office at 5:45 pm. We’ll be meeting at Pangea Cafe for a couple of weeks and we may decide to make it a permanent meeting place.”
