ORLANDO MAGIC DUNKING DANCERS TO PERFORM AT ESPN THE WEEKEND - ESPN The Weekend Presented by Dick’s Sporting Goods Returns to Walt Disney World Resort February 27 – March 1
ORLANDO, FL (Feb. 25, 2009) – The Orlando Magic Dunking Dancers will perform on ESPN The Weekend on Saturday, February 28 from Noon – 2:30pm at Disney’s Hollywood Studios Theme Park. ESPN and the Walt Disney World Resort are again offering fans the opportunity to see and hear ESPN personalities and current and legendary athletes during ESPN The Weekend presented by Dick’s Sporting Goods, a one-of-a-kind sports-themed special event at Disney’s Hollywood Studios Theme Park in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., which lasts from February 27th - March 1st.
The Orlando Magic Dancers make up the Dunking Dancers performance team, the first of its kind in the NBA to display amazing aerial, under-the leg, behind the back, and flip dunks with style and grace. They have had the great honor of being invited to perform at the 2006 NBA All-Star weekend events in Houston, at the 2006 NCAA Final Four weekend events in Indianapolis, a USAB game in China, the 2007 BEKO All-Star Game in Turkey, at the Hong Kong Celebrity Game, at NFL player Michael Clayton’s Charity game in Tampa, the Sprite Music and Hoops Tour in Puerto Rico, 2007 preseason games in China, a Streetball Tournament in Jakarta, Indonesia during the summer of 2008 and the Kansas University Midnight Madness events in the fall of 2008. The Dunking Dancers have also been featured on ESPN’s SportsCenter Top 10 Plays.
In addition, ESPN personalities John Anderson, Colin Cowherd, Jay Crawford, Mike Golic, Mike Greenberg, Dana Jacobson, Chris McKendry, Karl Ravech, Stuart Scott and Trey Wingo are scheduled to participate, along with more than 30 athletes, including NFL quarterbacks Aaron Rodgers, Kurt Warner and recently-retired Brett Favre, 2009 MLB Hall of Famer Rickey Henderson and U.S. Olympic gold medalists Shawn Johnson and Misty May-Treanor, among many others.
