Clearwater Academy Football - Knights Rule!

j15_knights_rule_1.jpgClearwater Academy International is the first ever Applied Scholastics School to field a tackle football team. As part ofthe Florida Christian Association of Private and Parochial Schools League, known as FCAPPS, they are one of fourteen teams to participate in six-man tackle football.  Although this has been their inaugural season, the Clearwater Academy Knights have been dominant on the field with a record of sevenwins and only one loss. (Raph Schwyter,  Center - Photo by Scott Chinchar) With two games left in the regular season, the Knights have already clinched the Division Trophy and are looking strong  heading into the playoffs.

Knights Coaches, Dirrell Ross and Casey Tibbs accepted the Divisional Trophy from the league commissioner Mr. Chuck Howard. Mr. Howard addressed the school and awarded the trophy at last week’s Pep Rally. He commended the coaches and players for their professionalism, their sportsmanship and for the high standards they have brought to the field and the league.Mr. Howard went on to say how impressed he was with the school and their support for their team.

Team Captain Jesse Chinchar has been ranked as the number one Quarterbackin the nation by the nationally recognized football ranking system called Maxpreps. Several other members of the team are alsoranked on this site. Friday night home games have become a highlight in the community as several hundred interested parents, students and friends enthusiastically support the teameach week. With a lawn chair in one handand a hot dog in the other, supporters are entertained by the Clearwater Academy Knights and acrobatic Cheerleaders. If you would like to join the fun the team isplaying their last home game for the season on Friday, October 24th at 940 Seventh StS, Safety Harbor, FL. 34695. Kick-off is at 7.30pm and admission is $4 for adults and$3 for students. Concessions are available.
