Winter the DolphinClearwater Marine Aquarium (CMA) fans Jenna Deedy (from New Hampshire) and Gina West (from England) are asking people around the world to celebrate CMA and Winter on April 5. Though the two have never met Winter, they have been inspired by her story. Jenna has a chronic illness and relates to Winter’s will to persevere. The duo came up with the idea to create and organize an International day to thank CMA and Winter. They are promoting the event through Facebook.

Between now and April 5, take a photo of yourself holding a sign thanking Winter and/or CMA for its work to help marine animals. The sign can be as basic or creative as you want. E-mail the picture to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it by April 5.

CMA will post your photos on their Web site and will even mail prizes to the top entries. Winners will receive a Winter prize pack (which includes a Winter stuffed animal, Winter’s Tail Scholastic book and the Winter documentary, “Winter: The Dolphin that Could”).

Prize categories are as follows:

  • Photo from the farthest place from Clearwater, FL
  • Most creative sign
  • Prettiest backdrop in photo
  • Best all around photo

Clearwater Marine Aquarium is a Florida non-profit organization, dedicated to marine life rescue, rehabilitation and release, and environmental education. CMA is home to dolphins, sea turtles, river otters, stingrays, nurse sharks and more. More information is available at www.seewinter.com.
