United Way's Day of Caring in Pasco County

PASCO COUNTY, FL - A Day of Caring Committee, chaired by Anna Sayre of Publix, has been working  for several months preparing an elaborate work and volunteer schedule so that all the fix up/clean-up tasks take place in one day.  The original date in May was washed out by the rain and rescheduled for June 10th.

Of the several sponsors and businesses providing volunteers is Publix, U.S. Congressman Gus Bilirakis’ office, Leadership Pasco Class of 2009, Wachovia Bank, SunTrust, Ferman Automotive, the St.  Petersburg Times, The Center for Independence, Dillards and JC Penny’s.

“Because of the commitment of these community volunteers, over $20,000 of volunteers hours will be contributed in one day,” noted United Way President, Susan Arnett.  “We estimate that more than 200 volunteers are signed up to help on this year’s Day of Caring.”

Among the agencies receiving the assistance are: the Boys & Girls Clubs, the Good Samaritan Health Clinic, Lighthouse for the Blind,  Sunrise of Pasco County, YMCAs, Girl Scouts, Center for Independence, Salvation Army, BayCare Behavioral Health, The Harbor Children's Treatment Center and the Mandala facility, CARES, Suncoast Harvest Food Bank, Rap House, Suncoast Epilepsy Association and Connections Job Development.

The United Way of Pasco County’s mission is to advance the common good in our community by creating opportunities for a better life and addressing the underlying causes of problems, thus creating long-lasting changes. For additional information about the Day of Caring, call the United Way of Pasco County at (727) 845-3030.
